Many tutors start their teaching career right here. Students choose a person who explains clearly, not years of experience. Your job is to be prepared and honest about your level.
First steps
- 1Choose who you're most comfortable with: beginners, school students, conversation practice or exam prep.
- 2Take one good textbook for that level — it gives you a ready sequence of topics.
- 3Plan your first 3–4 lessons: what the student will know after each one.
- 4Run a few trial lessons — the fastest way to gain confidence.
- 5After a lesson, ask the student what helped and what to change.
Tip
Don't write "no experience" in your profile. Say what you can do: your level in the subject, your education, how you explain hard things simply.
Do
- Prepare for every lesson
- Note what you covered with each student
- Say honestly when you need to check an answer
Don't
- Take on everything at once
- Improvise the whole lesson
- Promise results you're not sure of
